On Saturday we had quite the rocket ride out to Block Island (broad reaching in 20-25kts with full main and partially 155 furled at hull speed and beyond surfing down the big waves virtually the entire trip. But coming back today after hoisting I went below to check course and smelled overheating. Upon investigation we found a hole in the water pump housing about the size of 3 toothpicks points together (that we hoped would stem the antifreeze flow if we needed the engine to dock, we didn't so don't know if that's a good trick or not).

Anyways, here the question: on a Perkins M30, is there anyway to bypass this pump ??? It's only purpose as I see it is to feed the hot water heater and I'd rather not wait for a replacement pump.
