[C320-list] A/C Sizing

Steve,

Where do you sail? From what I've read on this list over the years and my
own experience, 12000 BTU is adequate for northern climates and 16000 seems
to be the largest anyone uses on a C320 even in southern areas. I installed
an AquaCal 7000 BTU unit (mfg claims that it tests at 9000 BTU in all but
very warm waters) under the port settee. The installation was relatively
simple and very cheap. It works very well here on Lake Michigan in 95 to 100
degree weather, but if this unit ever quits I'll probably replace it with a
12-14000 BTU reverse cycle system and install it in one of the aft lockers.
The smaller units will cool your boat adequately, but the bigger units will
cool it off a little faster and allow you to install as many vents as you
want while maintaining strong, cold air flow out of all of them.

Jeff
