Turk, I don't think that is correct. Below are two references supporting my contention that two 6V, 200AH batteries in series will be the equivalent of one 12V bank of 200AH.

The practical rule for those considering changing to golf cart batteries or any series connected battery bank is to treat all the batteries in the bank as one. That is to say that when the need arises to replace one battery in series, alwaly replace all in that bank, and always use the same type battery in terms of chemestry and capacity. Think of each bank as one battery in two physical cases. One bad cell, replace all cells in that bank.

This from zbattery.com: "When connecting your batteries in Series you are doubling the voltage while maintaining the same capacity rating (amp hours)."

Another, www.allaboutcircuits.com/vol_1/chpt_11/5.html: "We know that the current is equal at all points in a series circuit, so whatever amount of current there is in any one of the series-connected batteries must be the same for all the others as well. For this reason, each battery must have the same amp-hour rating, or else some of the batteries will become depleted sooner than others, compromising the capacity of the whole bank. Please note that the total amp-hour capacity of this series battery bank is not affected by the number of batteries."
