Scott & Joe,
I wonder if you two are talking about the same thing when you refer to "battery boxes"? Like Joe, on all the 320's I've seen there is a wooden shelf with a lip on which each 4D battery rests. Like Joe describes, each battery is held securely in place with a wood piece across the top.
But on my boat and others I've seen the battery just sits on the shelf and is held by the wooden cross-piece. There is nothing surrounding the case of the battery. I think the traditional battery box is more like a plastic or wooden shoebox which has sides that come all the way to the top of the battery. Some have a cover as well.. I've never seen a 320 with that arrangement. Maybe Joe is thinking of teh shelf as a battery box and Scott is thinking of this other beast and that's why the disconnect.

Island Time has two fitted battery boxes that fit the 4D’s snugly with wood 2X2’s screwed in across the top of the batteries to hold them in place in case of a knockdown. I would suggest you call Catalina to inquire. I wouldn’t want my batteries moving around in rough seas.
