I agree with Dick. The fuller the fridge is, the more heat sink you
have. The cold is retained in the articles in the fridge. We have also
put ice in the bottom. But lots of beer also works. :)

Going on every 7 minutes seems excessive, ours is more like every 30 -40
minutes depending on how full it is and what the ambient temperature is.
Is the hot sun hitting the lid directly etc?

Our old unit turned on and off much more frequently. Maybe yours needs
servicing... a new Freon charge? Do they still use Freon?

Yes, depending on the temperature and how much you have in it.  I have
found
that by freezing bottles of water, that we later drink, and placing them
at
the bottom you create a heat sink and that reduces the cycle time of the
reefer.  WE also leave it sat at about 4.
