My refrigerator compressor goes on about ever 7 minutes and I hear it

It was pretty easy I had to drill out a couple old screws and a pop
rivet or two. Then I used the old metal base as a template.  I put four
legs on the new base using some the cutting board material, sheet mental
screws and 5200.  I even made a new bracket for the fan to mount to
doing the same thing.  This allowed air to circulate under the base.
You just need to pre drill the new base for the screws and bolts.  

When I was done I had someone come and evac and refill the Freon.
System is working great. 

I  though about taking the old base to a sheet mental shop but that
would have been much more expensive and I would have ended up with the
same problem.

Nice idea! I had been thinking the base was metal so that it would have
some heat holding capacity -- perhaps not. I might give your method a
try. I gather it was easy enough to separate the base from the rest of
the unit?
