[C320-list] Music

Getaway has the speakers in the same location (face side of each stern
locker).
I just installed them 2 weeks ago by taking the hatch doors off of the
hinge, and then cutting circular holes with a jig saw. Actually, my
father (co-owner) did all the cutting while I supervised, but he didn't
seem to have any trouble at all.
I purchased a pair of 6.5" speakers, and I think that's about as big as
you can fit in that location.
It was extremely easy to run the speaker wires to that location, and
aside from cutting 2 giant 6.5" holes, I didn't have to rip the boat apart.

I'm very happy with the speakers that I picked up.. I've had MB Quart
speakers in the past, and I think they produce amazingly clear mid and
high frequencies. You won't get much bass out of them, but they are
crystal clear and distortion free.

Someone else suggested a remote wired to the helm.. not a bad idea at all.
I was able to order a wireless remote control for the car stereo cd
player that's mounted in Getaway, and while it doesn't work perfectly
from the helm, it is very usable for anyone sitting in the cockpit
forward of the wheel.
I was also able to get a lot more functionality in a car stereo than I
could find in any of the marine units, so I now have a cd player that
will play cds full of mp3 files (and a cd of mp3s holds over 10 hours of
music). BUT, only time will tell how long it will last in the salt water
air...
