Tim,

Apparently you have missed the previous 3 days worth of discussion on the subject...you've come about 50 messages late! :)

Just to let you guys know, you will get better service from the 6V's than the 4D's. They are true deep cycles and they will last a much longer time because of better construction and many more "charge cycles " due to the way they are built.

Yup, I'm with you, what threw me was the "Total amp hour capacity goes from
about 270 to 400+ AH for less money." I think you meant "...370 to 400+",
I realized that later.

In theory, a pair of 12Vs are identical to 4 6Vs. Unfortunately a pair of
6v batteries in series are more problematic in practice.

As "Click and Clack" from NPR are fond of saying.

"Reality often astounds Theory"... So maybe nobody really knows!

Jeff, perhaps I should have made it clear I meant 4 golf cart batteries: 2
each in series and paralled together to get the approx. 400AH at 12V.

When the time comes, I will do as you recommend and parallel the 4Ds and add
a starting battery. As always, I defer to your exceedingly greater
knowledge and experience in this area.

Thanks,
Warren
