[C320-list] New C320 MarkII

Karl,
Yes GD did discuss this at the regatta and he swore us to secrecy.
Strangely it looks like it never made it to the list until publicly
announced...:-)

My recollection of the new boat.
- Nothing that would affect a PHRF rating has changed (LWL, rigging, sail
plan...)
- hanging locker between port settee and V-birth (I think it was 14 inches
but it may have been 7)
- the v-birth is 4" inches longer, he took 2 inches from main salon and 2
inches from anchor locker.
- the stern and hull joint have been redesigned to be one step. Our boats
were made by molding the transom in one process and molding the hull in
another and then hand joining them.
- The area under the cat bird seats has been redesigned to not fall away
quite as quickly and the non-skid is carried further aft.
- There is a Plexiglas guard between the galley and the chart table (THIS IS
SOMETHING I NOTICED AS SOON AS WE GOT THE BOAT A LITTLE OVER A MONTH AGO;
HAS ANYONE DONE SOMETHING TO MAKE SURE THE COOK DOES NOT DROWN THE LAP TOP
THAT IS ON THE CHART TABLE?)
- I think he said they were using the same chain plate design that they used
on the 310 which apparently never needs maintenance.
- the cabin top has been redesigned to give a little more head room in the
aft cabin.
- the aft cabin port light is now opening
- seems he was still debating whether to put an access window from the
V-Birth into the main salon.
- increased the size of the tanks, I think all of them. For sure he said
the holding tank and the fuel. He said they would make them as large as
possible while still allowing them to be removed for maintenance without
having to break anything to get them out.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some things but that is all I can remember right
now.

Hello All:

I received a email from Sail Place, Catalina dealer on Lake Michigan several
days
ago about the new C320 MarkII being unveiled at Annapolis this weekend.

Does anyone know what changes have been made? Was this discussed at the
annual
regatta last month?

Bruce,

I had exactly the same problem. I check my engines alignment every year but
my cutlass bearing was worn in the vertical direction which indicated to me
that the engine had too much vertical movement because of soft engine
mounts. I will also check into the firm ones. Thanks.
