I've got the same elbow.  At the survey a year ago I was told it was 
shot and leaking.

Pulled it off (easy - 4 bolts and a clamp) and found it in great shape.  
A little surface corrosion in one spot that buffed off.  Very little 
carbon.  This was after 375 hours over 6 years.
