When using the oil change pipe do you put the oil changer line down through it or do you use a fitting and secure the line to it .

I can't imagine the mess Allen had trying to clean up an oil spill. I'd pay money to see pictures of that. 
 
I bought a manual pump at WM for $19 on sale. List price was about $40, I think. It works great, but I don't see it in the current e-catalog. Perhaps some WM store may have one on the shelf. It's called "Oil-Vac" and UPC is 25282-01860. 
 
I have the Perkins M30 that has the oil change pipe with threaded conection that goes directly into the sump and can be reached just next to the oil filter. This makes it a snap to get out all 4 qts. of oil. I could never get out more than 3 qts through the dipstick. It is very important that you get out all of the oil. Also, a good idea every couple of years to drain from the bottom of the sump to get most of the sludge out.
