my two cents,
I didn't switch to a SS shaft, but i might have done so in the future had I kept escape.  But I see no reason to buy the PYI PSS (and I have it in my new boat) GFO packing (which I had in Escape) at $14 is just as good, in my view.

With all this discussion about which prop to purchase, pitch, size, etc, I
might also suggest you invest in a SS shaft and dripless shaft seal like the
PYI PSS.  Most feathering props are heavier and with more thrust expect more
vibration and more xmission, strut and cutlass bearing wear.  The SS shaft
is stronger with much less flex and will cut down on vibration, wear and
tear on your drive system.  I made the change and what a difference.  Cost
is $1,000 parts but pay now or pay later.
