If you do it that way nobody will be able to tell what you are replying too.
It will seem like a random message as opposed to a reply to an ongoing
thread.

Often I find a topic of interest in "Today's topics" then spend more time
trying to find "Message 3" then the message is long. Could we not clean up
the page by asking members to create a new message with each submission?
