[C320-list] Raw Water Intake Thru-Hull

This seems to be to be an issue of the lesser of two evils. Without a screen on the water intake, kelp and etc. will get into the strainer eventually clogging it (isn't that, after all, it's purpose?) With a screen on the hull, doesn't that screen stand the chance of being clogged first? Given the choice of pulling the strainer from the bowl to clean or going overboard to clear a hull strainer, I'll take the former.

However, it may depend on the situations you encounter. There has been a lot of duck week reported in the Dismal Swamp Canal going South from the Chesapeke this year. Quite a few boats experienced overheading and impacted weed in the strainer as well as impacted week in the thru-hull and intake before the strainer. I'll leave it to those to tell their stories.

I'm guessing that no hull strainer is the best solution.
