This note came to me from neighbor. Something to keep in mind if you are looking for replacement parts. The expansion tank looks like a direct replacement for the 3GM Yanmar. Who knows what other goodies are out there at a fraction of boatyard prices?

Of interest to you sailors out there who have Yanmar diesel engines.> This came to me via the Freedom sailboat Yahoo Group.

I recently had to replace the leaking coolant overflow tank on my> 2GM20F. The tank is made of polypropylene and almost no glue would> seal the crack that had developed. I checked the price of a Yanmar> replacement and was outraged to discover it was $76. (I don't know> why this surprised me so much; I had to pay $175 for a warning buzzer> for the Yanmar panel.) I simply refused to pay that and went looking> on eBay for an automotive tank that seemed about the right size.> Tanks for cars run from $10 to about $25 and there is no magic in the> shape, other than fitting in the alloted space. I ordered what seemed> a reasonable replacement for $20 and when it arrived you can imagine> my surprise to discover that it was an exact, drop in replacement. I> didn't even need to change the mounting bracket. The seller is still> advertising them on eBay, though without mentioning that it fits the> 2GM20F engine. I just wanted to share this beat-the-Yanmar-system> link with the group:
