Subject: [C320-list] head thru hull

I have a 1994 C320 hull # 88. For the past few years, my direct overboard thru hull valve for the head , has got harder and harder to turn to the point you are pretty sure you are going to break the handle off, I have tried lubing it on 2 occasions when I have had the boat out of the water with little result. This year I just plan to lift the boat and pressure wash it while it the slings, replace zincs and drop it right back in the water. I thought I would also replace this valve. Using a tape measure and a flash light, the outside diameter of the thru hull tread appears to be about 2 inches. I am assuming the thru hull diameter is 1 1/2 : like the rest of the head plumbing. When I went to west marine to by a replacement valve they were also certain it was a 1/1/2 " thru hull so I bought a 1 1/2" marlon valve that has a female thread of just under 2 ". Because I only have a few hours in the sling, I would like to confirm with any other owners that may have replaced this valve that I have the right part. Any help would be greatly appreciated. On another note, I am just replacing all my head hoses and must say I am not to impressed with the original Catalina installation, with one elbow and a different y valve, I was able to eliminate about 5 feet of 1 1/2 hose. Also the vent hose fitting on the holding tank is 3/4, while the actual vent is 1/2 inch. I am also replacing the head as the pump has a small crack and is leaking. The new head has a hose going directly from the top of the pump to the back of the bowl. My original toilet has as hose leaving the top of the pump going through the wall behind the head and another one returning to the back of the bowl. At first I thought this was just a big loop, but while scratching my arms all up on the rough fiberglass behind the cabinet it appears this isn't the case. I am planning to remove the toilet paper holder so I might see what is going on back there better. Again if anyone who has encountered this could enlighten me as to what is going on back there , I would greatly appreciate it. Don't get me wrong, I love the boat , I am just tired of coming home itchy and smelling like crap, Darrell
