[C320-list] Anti Blister protection

WindSwept (# 246) here.

We have about a dozen larger blisters (think golf ball diameter) at each
haulout which is approximately every two years. I have been told that when
properly fixed they pose no structural or other issues. I have given
thought to taking all the bottom paint off and reapplying a barrier coat,
but usually don't want to spend all the money necessary at once and don't
want to have the boat out of the water as long as necessary. So I am on the
installment plan.

Other boats with close hull numbers have had the large size blisters occur
too.

I keep WindSwept in the water year round. Water temperature ranges from
about 50 in the dead of winter and can get as high as 90 in the summer. Its
salt water.

Gerry Douglas told us during the plant tour in Woodland Hills that coincided
with the Regatta at Marina del Rey a couple of years ago that early 320s,
including those of the vintage of WindSwept, had a barrier coat applied at
the factory and were not laid up with vinylester resin. I remember this
point very clearly as I probably asked the question. He went on to say when
in the 320 production run they switched to vinylester. I don't remember
when that was. He said that the barrier coat should be renewed every so
often.
