There are some things were cheaper is not better--a charger is one of them

On cl2 I had a Heart 40 w/ inverter, in 12 years, never had a problem...

Cut back on clothing for the kid (s) and jewelry for the wife, it will be worth it! :)

Just my 2-cents but I would never put a ProMariner back in the boat
regardless of what kind of deal they gave me. We went through 2 of them
after they cooked one set of batteries so much that it set off the carbon
monoxide detector. Even Catalina no longer uses this 1985 state-of-the-art
technology. I believe that they use the Charles now. We went with a
Xantrex 20 and only wish we had gone for the 40. Otherwise, we are very
pleased with the Xantrex especially since our fridge runs 24-7 for 9 months
of the year.

Our Flyback 20 lasted for 9 years. We purchased another of the exact same
model from ProMariner exchanging our old unit for a new one at a prorated
price. If you're tight on bucks right now it might be worth seeing what
they'll give you for the old unit.

So,

My wife and I finally get someone to watch our three kids and we were going
to get our first chance out on the boat by ourselves this season and BAM,
batteries are dead when we get to the boat. Problem was our shore battery
charger was gone. We have a ProMariner Flyback 20 (only 3 years old), and I
have heard that this unit is junk. So, I know this has been talked about
before but I was wondering if people could share what they replaced this
unit with and what deals if any they were able to get from ProMariner. The
boat bucks are super thin, so I need a reliable unit without a giant price
tag, especially since I'm nervous about what this did to the batteries
(might have to buy a new set of them as well).

Thanks ahead of time,

Chris
