After Al's question, I went to the site to look up specs but I couldn't find VAC current draw.  I did see it spec'd @ 85% efficiency

Not so Al...

The Xantrex Truecharge 40+ outputs 40 amps DC (total) but draws a max of 8.5 amps 120VAC input current according to its specs.

Bill I was led to believe that if you put in a 40 amp charger and your shore power was only 120v - 20amp service the max your charger will produce is 20 amps of charging power .
