My info came from page A-4 of the manual. It also cites a peak efficiency of 83%. I guess the max input current draw of 8.5 amps AC is only used for a short time.

After Al's question, I went to the site to look up specs but I couldn't find VAC current draw. I did see it spec'd @ 85% efficiency----- Original Message ----From: Karl Mielenhausen _/) <kmielen at iwon.com>To: C320-List at catalina320.comSent: Monday, July 23, 2007 8:35:34 PMSubject: [C320-list] FW: Re: Shore Power ChargerNot so Al...The Xantrex Truecharge 40+ outputs 40 amps DC (total) but draws a max of 8.5 amps 120VAC input current according to its specs.Karl Mielenhausen2000 C320 Hull#690 "Silver Lining"New Bern, NChttp://pages.suddenlink.net/kmielen/From: alahlm at comcast.net [mailto: alahlm at comcast.net]To: c320-list at catalina320.comDate: Mon, 23 Jul 2007 21:34:11 +0000Subject: Re: [C320-list] Shore Power ChargerBill I was led to believe that if you put in a 40 amp charger and your shore power was only 120v - 20amp service the max your charger will produce is 20 amps of charging power .
