I would like to suggest that we ask the fleet in NC to host the Regatta in
2008, and hold it in September when it is a bit cooler.

This touches on the message which Jeff Hare posted a number of months back.
He too raised the cost issue as a factor.  As I recall he had the
out-of-the-box idea of possibly holding the event for a week in the Virgin
Islands where the cost would be in a similar ballpark but with a higher
value to any given sailing family and lots more hours sailing.

For me the issue is not so much time but cost.  If the regatta is local then
that is one thing, but airplane tickets, rental cars, hotels, meals out,
etc. make it too cost prohbitive for me.  This isn't the fault of the
directors or the event organizers, this is just my personal problem.
