[C320-list] Head hose re-do part II

This winter I replaced most of my old, very odiferous, head hoses with
shiny new one. When I went flush the head this week, the main outlet
hose leaks water right where the discharge elbow connects to the hose.
This was strange b/c I replaced a 1.5 inch hose that fit well with a 1.5
inch hose that seems a bit loose. I took it apart and here's what I
found. The elbow is not cracked from over tightening the hose clamps (
which I tightened very firmly). The plastic piece that the hose slips
over has not much "lip" on it and is somewhat tapered. The new kind
of hose I'm using is white, vinyl-like and probably not as compressible.
The head is a Jabsco manual, circa 1993. Has anyone else had this
problem? I plan on trying to build up the plastic elbow by wrapping
some plumbers tape around it and may also wrap in a small rubber O-ring.
Then squirt some silicone on it.
