My notes from earlier on this list are:

At the C320 2001 regatta in San Diego the YANMAR guy said: 
2800 RPM = Optimal 
1800 RPM = Charging batteries and hot water 
3400 RPM = Can run forever

While sitting on a mooring or on the hook, at what RPM do you run the motor at to charge the batteries, and typically for how long?  I’ve read it’s not good to run the engine at idle for too long in neutral after it’s warmed up, but it must be okay to run at a higher RPM while still in neutral to charge, right?
