FWIW:
 
-  Best all around area, mid to south Atlantic coast.  Good  sailing, good 
weather, good job opportunities, good people.
 
-  FL...too hot in the summer, too many hurricanes to worry  about.
 
-  Gulf Coast...see Florida.
 
-  Pacific NW...too cold in the summer, rains all the time.
 
-  CA...cost of living is outrageous, traffic is bad, and...it's  California!
