4D's are what was factory installed (hull #112)...I liked wet cells (and the cost was right--one of my vendors was married to the owner of Trojan Batteries--each 4D cost me $65!), so I replaced them (7 years later) with same...I did add a Group 24 starting battery to complete the set-up--also Trojan :)

I think gell cells, wet cells and AGM's are all personal preferences on these types of boats that don't have huge amp requirements....I augmented the batteries with the purchase of a Honda 2000 portable generator--something everyone should have on these boats...

Sounds like I need to buy a hydrometer and check the acid.
 
Also, sounds like I need to open the wallet for new batteries.
 
 
Are the batteries 24D's ?  Specs and manuals are on my boat , of  course.
 
Gel cell ?
