John - I had done exactly what you describe with the Nicro vents on my last
2 boats. Set one fan blade to draw air in and the other to remove the air.
Those little suckers (pun intended) move a tremendous volume of air over a
24-hour period and do make a difference down below. As for leaks, that has
never happened to me on 2 boats even with the bow buried or during deck wash
down. But if you are worried about bringing water in during a particular
situation, they do close off very easily. In 6 years with the 2 on the
current boat, I have only replaced one of the batteries.

Subject: [C320-list] Improving Cabin Ventilation
Has anyone had good or bad experiences with Nicro Day/Night Plus
solar-powered vents to improve cabin ventilation? They seem like a good way
to maintain some airflow through the cabin when Im not on the boat.
Im thinking about installing one in the hatch above the V-berth and another
in the main cabin hatch. Im concerned about cutting holes in these hatches
and having a less than watertight seal, but I really dont want to cut holes
through the deck for them.
