Bill, Before you do take it out (a scary moment the first time you do it) duct-tape your deck scrub brush to a broom-handle and Work it around under the hull where the impeller is. That has worked for me a couple of times as it can just be a bit of weed or slime that is enough to stop the thing turning. Dave Moores
