[C320-list] Speed Transducer Cleaning

Mike,

I hope you don't mind my responding directly--but wanted you to get the 
attachment.  The attachment is applicable to the speed transducer that 
came with my ST60 instrument--but it may be similar to what you have on 
the ST50.

Assuming that your transducer is similar to this, according to the 
attached, yes, you can remove the pin to remove the wheel for a good 
cleaning.  I have done this a few times and it isn't difficult.  I made 
a push-out pin from a 4D finish nail as they suggested on page 
4--modified in that I flattened one surface of the nail.  I then 
supported the transducer on a block of wood with a clearance hole for 
the pin to go into and gently tapped out the pin far enough to remove 
the paddlewheel.  Once cleaned, put the wheel back in place per figure 6 
on page 4 and then re-installed in the boat.  (note it can go in two 
ways--it need to be like the diagram to work properly).  You must be 
gentle and don't force anything so as not to over-stress or crack the 
plastic housing.
