Other thank locking the wheel while at a mooring or at anchor, the wheel brake seems like a useless 'thing'....

One item of interest would be what to do when the wheel-lock mechanism
doesn't work.  My Edson lock-knob just tuns, but doesn't lock the wheel..
Edson is to e me a schematic diagram re adjusting "brake" inside binnacle,
but maybe there's an easier way?.....
