Well I was going to stand as an officer, but I didn't know about the no
Canadian rule. :)

About 7 or 8 years ago John Langford, from Victoria BC (Canada), professor
at the University of Victoria, was the Commodore. I think he was the first
non US resident to hold the position. He moved up in size a couple of years
ago so he's no longer on the list.

I saw his old C320 sailing by in the Gulf Islands this summer; still looks
great. I bought a very lightly used 135 jib from him last year which he had
purchased for his 320 and kept for his new boat, but then decided he didn't
need it.

This is after all, the C320 International Association; Go for it Bruce.

Bruce,
Thanks for expressing interest. In this age of inexpensive global
communications I don't see your location as a big issue - the only time
sensitive activity is the monthly officer's conference call but I'm sure
we could schedule around the time differences. More importantly, I'm
sure the organization would be greatly served by having international
representation on the board. You could be the first and with the number
of hulls outside the hull you could help ensure non-US owner needs are
represented. About the only role that would present a real problem would
be treasurer as the organization uses a US bank for its finances. Roles
such as Commodore, Vice-Commodore, Mainsheet editor, webmaster can
easily be done 'offline'. Usually the Commodore engages another
volunteer to setup the annual regatta (thanks again to Paul Weikel for
stepping forward this year) so again your location is not really a
factor. What role were you interested in???

to Mike LaChance Commodore 320IA and All C320 Owners

with direct regard to volunteering to serve as an officer for this great

owners association:

I am active on the 'List' and am genuinely willing consider to to serve
as
an officer.
However, I live in Australia and I feel limited as to how I could
accomplish
a roll as an officer in this great Association.
