agreed, that wouldn't be a good place to have acetone fumes!  I suspect most
chemicals that will remove caulk might have similar fume issues....

HD and most others in my area didn't have UHMW tape.   I ended up ordering
3" wide tape, altho the tape used is just 3/4" wide.  don't know why i did
that.... :-) Ya know, gee, might be handy, make it wider, use it for other
projects....ya da ya da ya da....

Interesting the tape doesn't go all the way back.  That's good to know....

I assume you didn't have to remove the main traveler...?  appears that just
removing the screws around the hood and sliding it aft will do the trick....
