Hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but failure of the gear box to engage
occasionally is the first sign of gear box failure. From your serial # you
have a Kanzaki tranny, which is a gear company Yanmar bought to have an in
house gearbox. Try servicing the gearbox oil. Flush once, drain and refill.
Use motor oil, not 90 WT. gear oil. This cured the problem on mine so far.
It only holds a few ounces so it is easy to over fill. If it was serviced
with 90 WT. at some point this could be the problem.

I was backing into a slip last Saturday and when I put the gear into
reverse nothing happened. I did hit the boat in front of me causing minor
Gelcoat damage. Can anyone tell me where to look to adjust the linkage? It
does not happen every time, just sometimes.

Has anyone found a successful way to repair large cracks in a hatch lens? Or
is replacement the only viable solution?
