For those of you who attended the C320IA Meeting and Regatta in Annapolis,
you'll remember our speaker for the Saturday evening awards dinner was Lee
Tawney, the Director of the Narional Sailing Hall of Fame (NSHoF) in
Annapolis, Maryland (www.nationalsailinghalloffame). For ths of you who
could not attend, the NSHoF has an impressive list of well known
sailing-related sponsors, contributors, and members on the Advisory Board
and Board of Directors. This group has been working hard over the past few
years to have the Hall established on the Annapolis, Maryland city
waterfront. It was recently announced that they have finally received
apprioval for their preferred location - right next to (and part of ) the
Phillips Annapolis Harbor Restaurant and steps from the annual Boat Show
that many of us attend each year - and are proceeding with their plans.
This week the initial plans for the Hall and a site orientation and massing
model were presented and well-received
(http://www.hometownannapolis.com/cgi-bin/readml/2008/12_12-48/TOP). At our
awards dinner the C320IA presented Lee with a check for $100 but they still
have a lot of work ahead with an estimated cost of $30 Million
(http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/12/12/AR200812120
3691_pf.html). We' re looking forward to the completion of the NSHoF and
being able to tour it on trips to Annapolis and the Boat Show. If you would
like to receive e-mail updates on the progress, go to
www.nationalsailinghalloffame and sign-up.
