[C320-list] 12 volt receptacle

John,
Sounds like a gross generalization to say that ALL blowers are rated for intermittent service. For instance, on many boats including Beneteaus the blower is wired to run the whole time that the engine is running. I'd expect that those blowers are rated for that type of service. Based on how ours are wired and how much more noise they make, I wouldn't be surprised if they were rated differently. In any case, I sometimes run mine for 30 minutes or so to bring the engine temp down on very hot days when the engine is running hard, or sometimes for 5 or 10 minutes after the engine has been turned off to keep engine smells out of the aft cabin.

Jeff, I happened to notice an article in Boat US about a fire caused by
running the blower too long. Turns out they are only rated for intermittent
use and can burn out if run too long.

Kurt,
I pulled 12 volts off of the starter switch and ran a fused wire to the cup.
The cup is mounted on the side of the engine pod so that it is angled
downward and won't collect water. As long as I was in there I also changed
the wiring to the engine fan so I could run it independent of the starter
switch.

How difficult is it to install a 12 volt receptacle at the helm in the
engine control pod and how does one do it?
