[C320-list] removing steering wheel

Hello
Can I remove the wheel with out messing up the Auto pilot?  It's really in the way getting to that nice walk thru transom and into the ocean!    Also what is the wheel brake I've been reading about and where is it?  I am the new owner of a 1995 320.
