[C320-list] Anchor recommendations

Hi Crosby
I have completed 3 major long coastal cruises from Sydney 1100+nm north (one
way) to the famous Great Barrier Reef.
The importance of a good anchor, chain, windlass, and the correct laying
'set' of anchor and chain all combine to produce solid anchoring and a good
nights sleep.
I have tried the new 35lb Delta on our new C320 (#1084). The Delta failed to
hold 2 out of 3 times!
I quickly changed from the 35lb Delta to a 35lb CQR (Manson made in New
Zealand). This is a quality product and it has never failed me.
The CQR anchors have proven to be the proven anchor.
It also has constantly been pointed out that the Chain actually does the
holding...more chain out the better...
"it is no good sitting in the locker"
A minimum rule I try to follow is that you put out at least 4 times the
depth in shallow water (3 meters / 10-12 feet) and 3 times the depth in deep
water.
I believe WestMarine have a good video clip on their web site (I have not
seen it myself).
You will no doubt get a variety of anchors to chose from. I use and trust
the CQR.
good luck
