[C320-list] What is top RPM ?

I *should* have said that 3600 RPM is max engine speed, and I can't get
there in gear on my boat with my prop. Technically Yanmar likes to see that
you can get to that rpm under load. I'm sure my boat won't get much over
3450 in flat water, and probably most Yanmar 3gm30 320s don't do full RPM
under load either.

If you have lots of junk on the prop, any kind of air restriction or
clogged fuel filter, you might have trouble getting higher RPM. Cable
adjustment could be a problem too.

If you have a clean prop, no air or fuel restrictions and have good
compression then there's one very likely bet here:

A Carbon buildup restriction in your exhaust elbow. It's definitely worth
inspecting as it may lead to engine problems should this be the case. This
can happen if you run at low RPM a lot, since the exhaust doesn't get hot
enough to keep the elbow clear. From what I've heard on this list, once
it's clogged, it's a replacement item, not a cleanout process.

Just a few thoughts...

-Jeff

Jeff

Wow 3600 Max RPM .... I think Wide Open Throttle for me
is only 2900 RPM ..... Wonder if I have a cable adjustment problem....
