Joe,

Unfortunately for you I am in Australia so place of purchase is of little
use - it was a local engineering supply firm.  The stuff I used is normally
used as a bearing material and wasn't cheap but was convenient.  The actual
material doesn't need to be that strong as the rudder reference unit has
only a light spring pressure and little weight.  The material just needs to
be able to support its own weight really.  If I could have found one thick
enough I would have used cutting board material.
