Holly,

Yes, it sounds like your cap is missing. What you describe is where you make
the adjustment. I believe I have instructions on how to make the adjustment.
I'll look for it and send it to you.

You do not have to remove from the wheel, but it is easier to work on if you
do. The two pieces just pull apart, there are no screws holding the two
pieces together. If you send me your email address I will forward the pdf...

Thank you for all the info.  Ours is a black one.  There is no rubber cap..
Maybe it is missing.  Just to the right of the motor is a small metal disk
with perhaps a very small allens head screw in the middle and a hole on
either side.   I am assuming this is where the rubber cap would be if there
was one.

I have taken the wheel off.  The whole thing is here in my office.  Should I
remove the unit from the wheel first?  Do the two black rings of the
autopilot just pry apart or are they held together by some screw somewhere?
