Robert,
I have a climbing harness that I use all the time when I go aloft on the tall ship Pilgrim. At REI you can find them for 56 bucks and they will be fine for climbing. The more expensive ones have more padding and wider webbing which helps distribute the force more evenly. However if you are going to spend any significant time sitting in one place working I would not want to do so in a harness, would be very uncomfortable in my opinion.
When I go aloft for long periods on the 320 I use a bosuns chair.

What's the general consensus? Is a bosun chair better/safer/more
comfortable than a climbing harness when ascending a mast is the job
at hand?
I've seen prices from around $370 to $56. No, I wouldn't buy the $56
item, but would hate to buy the top end to find out it's no safer/
comfortable but because it has pockets for drinks, iPods, etc.
