[C320-list] Engine Instrument Pod Move

Don,
I did this project last summer--as Jeff suggests in a previous post, his
steps are right on (very fresh in my mind). A couple of things to be aware
of--
--You only have a limited amount of space to lower it due to the Engine
Stop. Make sure you measure how much you can drop the pod in relation to
this. You will have room, but if you want to avoid recutting the stop cable
to size you will be limited by it
--you will end up creating a decent amount of compass variation because of
the location of the new AP drive--mine was about 7 degrees. You will have a
choice of mounting the AP so that the drive unit is either to port close to
the Compass or to Starboard a bit lower from the compass, but a very tight
fit--I chose the port installation and will end up swinging my compass--make
sure you spend some time dry fitting before you decide. If you opt for the
port side, you will have to pull a bit more of the AP cable to have it reach
across to this side--there is plenty of cable length for this, but you have
to be careful as you pull on it as the grommet tends to hold the cable
captive..
Hope this helps and let me know if you have additional questions--took me
about 2 hours total and was a very straightforward job. My next project is
upgrading the old pod to the new, so I will be doing this one more time!
Regards,

Subject: [C320-list] Engine Instrument Pod Move
In order to get a ST4000+ MK2 drive assembly to fit on my wheel (replacing
the smaller - barely functional - ST4000+ currently installed) I will need
to lower the engine instrument pod.
I've seen Jeff Church's photos on the website. However, they don't show
what needs to be done to lower the pod. What needs to be unscrewed? Does
it require rewiring? How is the best way to access the interior of the pod?
Any help would be appreciated.
