[C320-list] Shower drain pump problem

2 things 

1. Is it true the shower drain pump is used to pump out the ice box?

2. Today when I turned the shower pump on to drain the icebox today I heard a sound like air popping in the head. I opened the door and there was water coming from the VENT hose on behind the head in the cabinet. 

Anyone have any idea what the problem is?
