Karl thanks for your great work.

Do you now recommend one as a replacement? Do they easily fit our lights.
I am thinking of only replacing about 6.

AND as A Bonus:

The Original Caesar Salad

>From the Wind Walker II Galley

But stolen from the original Caesar Hotel in Tijuana, Baja California
Mexico from whence it was invented about 1930.

1 small clove garlic, crushed	¼ cup Olive Oil (6 teaspoons)
1 cup dry French Bread cubes (1/2 Inch)	1 large head of romaine lettuce,
washed and torn into bite sized pieces
¼ teaspoon salt	1 egg
1 lemon, juice only	Dash Worcestershire sauce
¼ cup Parmesan Cheese	3-4 Anchovy fillets
¼ teaspoon English dry mustard	Dash freshly ground pepper

1.	Crush garlic in a small bowl and add Olive. Let stand several hours.
2.	Place about 2 tablespoons of the garlic oil in a skillet over medium
heat. Add the bread cubes and toast them until lightly brown, stirring
often. You can make the croutons up to a day before.
3.	Place the lettuce in a large salad bowl and season with salt and
pepper, Worchester sauce and dry mustard. Add the remaining ¼ cup of olive
oil and mix until every leaf is glossy.
4.	Coddle the egg in hot water 1 minute exactly. (You can use a
pasteurized egg).
5.	Break the egg into the salad.
6.	Squeeze in the lemon juice and mix thoroughly.
7.	Add the chopped anchovies and parmesan cheese and mix again
8.	Add the croutons and mix gently
9.	Taste for seasoning
10.	Serve at once. Serves about 6 for salad, 2 for main course. We
also add grilled chicken or shrimp.

(I like to place 3-4 anchovies on top.)

Cheers,

Jon and Dick,

I have (temporarily with velcro) mounted it near the mirror, pretty much
directly above the sink.

I'll probably epoxy it onto the liner once I'm satisfied with the location.

Regarding the overheads, I recently purchased an assortment of MR-16 style
LEDs, many from eBay in an attempt to find one with decent light output as
a replacement for the halogens. BTW, I did see the recent Practical Sailor
report, but found many of those LEDs to be overpriced (read: boat
specific).
Some of the units were available in red. Try a search of eBay for "mr16
red led". Based on my testing, you'll want at least 21 leds in the array,
or better yet, the newer, brighter SMT style (they are small squares,
surface mounted).
Here is a summary of my findings (still a work in progress and possibly a
future Mainsheet article)....

Karl,

Thanks for passing along--looks like a great idea. Where do you plan on
attaching it? On a similar topic, has anyone managed to replace one or more
of the overheads with a red lens for night sailing?

This is especially useful for those of us that cruise (overnight) on the
boat and are tired of stumbling around for the light switch or flashlight
for those latenight trips to the head.

Came across this deal and recently installed it in Silver Lining.
Too timely for the Mainsheet, so I figured I'd pass it along here....
