Quentin,

I put my swing-arm mount with 19" LCD TV above the circuit breakers and in front of shelf.  The actual arm is attached to the bulkhead on the left of the breakers and adjacent to the galley.  It hides the stuff on the shelf and fits nicely in that area.  You can swing it to see from most areas on the boat.  There is no need for a backing plate and the it looks good.

I could take a picture of mount and TV today when I go down to do our beer can races.
Please send me your email address off list and I will send the pictures from my iphone.

I just mounted it fixed to the bulkhead.  It is fine.

I purchased a 19" LCD TV/DVD and a swing-arm mounting bracket.  I plan to
install it on the bulkhead against the head so that the TV can be viewed
from wither settee.  The back plate of this bracket is about 8" x 8" with
four holes.  Originally I was going to drill four holes through the bulkhead
which I understand to be two fibreglass panels and use stainless bolts,
washers and nuts to mount.  However, I'm concerned with the boat heaving in
the waves and the swing-arm essentially adding leverage, thus weight on
these bolts which could tear through the bulkhead.  I noticed in an article
for another boat suggesting using a stainless steel backing plate on the
other (head) side.  I guess this would have to be custom made at a metal
shop.  Is this additional plate inside the head necessary?  Has anyone
install a TV on a swing-arm mount?
