Our hull #62, is, apparently, Blister Guard. However, it seems the
ommissioning broker applied a barrier coat and did it correctly. I've not
ad any blister issues that I know of.
Three years ago I removed all the paint (10 coats?) down to the barrier coat
it was flaking off a good bit of paint each haul and power wash. I then
tarted over with ablative: one coat black, two coats blue. There has been a
ittle flaking which I treat by chipping back to a hard edge, feather sand,
nd repaint blue. Last year I only touched up as it was all blue - no black
howing. If there is black showing, I lighty sand, paint black, then blue.
orks for me.

Well hey - I just got a response from Catalina. I love their customer
ervice.

er Catalina, "the first usage of Vinyl ester was April of 1995". So boats
ill hull numbers from April 95 onward (CTYCXXXXD4XX) have vinyl ester.
hose before that had "Blister Guard".

atalina emailed me a two page guide to repairing/maintaining hulls with
lister Guard... email me if you want a copy.
