[C320-list] C320 Hull - Vinylester?

Our hull #62, is, apparently, Blister Guard. However, it seems the
commissioning broker applied a barrier coat and did it correctly. I've not
had any blister issues that I know of.

Three years ago I removed all the paint (10 coats?) down to the barrier coat
- it was flaking off a good bit of paint each haul and power wash. I then
started over with ablative: one coat black, two coats blue. There has been a
little flaking which I treat by chipping back to a hard edge, feather sand,
and repaint blue. Last year I only touched up as it was all blue - no black
showing. If there is black showing, I lighty sand, paint black, then blue.
Works for me.

Well hey - I just got a response from Catalina. I love their customer
service.

Per Catalina, "the first usage of Vinyl ester was April of 1995". So boats
will hull numbers from April 95 onward (CTYCXXXXD4XX) have vinyl ester.
Those before that had "Blister Guard".

Catalina emailed me a two page guide to repairing/maintaining hulls with
Blister Guard... email me if you want a copy.
