My experience is that any water that gets into the boat ends up under the
holding tank; it gets under the liner since the bilge is so shallow. On a
port tack the area under the hull liner drains into the starboard area under
the settee and gathers under the holding tank which is the low point once it
enters that area it cannot drain to back under the liner.

A dripless shaft seal solves most of this if you don't already have one. It
solved most of this issue for me, the volume went from the 2 gals you get to
a small amount that take several months to accumulate.

I think that any small source of leaking fresh or sea water normally ends up
in this area under the holding tank.

OK, I have a problem I can't fathom. I'm having about 2 gal. of water show
up on the starboard side under the holding tank. I can't find the source. I
pump it out with a manual pump and it returns, always about the same amount.

Those with the newer bilge design won't understand this post. The older
models have a very different bilge design.

The water is clear other than the sandy dirt that apparently washes out from
the original construction debris. I thought it must have come from the fresh
water system; but, now I'm not so sure.

The area around the holding tank is punctuated by a number of conduits for
wires and hoses. There appears to be no other way for water to get into this
area. In looking around for water, there is none showing under the head,
very little under the galley, none under the port water tank, and none in
the bilge spaces aft of the fwd water tank. It seems to only appear after a
strong sail in 10-25kt winds where we get a decent heel. I've pulled the
center section of cabin sole over the keel bolts to find some dampness but
nothing to indicate a real flow of water. I'm considering putting food
coloring in the water tanks to see if that is the source. I can find no
other standing water in the bilge areas.

Has anyone had this condition or have any ideas about how I might proceed?
