Your engine hours aren't that extensive, but the lack of interest  
you've encountered in seeking a rebuild makes me agree with you on  
moving towards a repower.
While my Yanmar is very reliable, it's louder than a Perkins.  I can't  
speak to the other engine choices out there.  Last point on  
noise...since we all prefer to sail when possible; that alone might  
make noise factor a minor consideration when choosing an engine.
