Robert - Flaking paint usually is indicative of poor or zilch prep the first
time the paint was applied.  In my case, the entire hull want not prepped.
Once the paint was removed and the hull properly prepped and re-painted,
there has never been a single flake again.  Note that my dealer did not
stand behind the faulty prep...  Cost me about $2,000 to have it done
professionally and properly.

See subject field.  While scraping my rudder, large paint flakes fell  
off showing white beneath, which I believe is the fiberglass surface.   
Can I simply sand and repaint, or is a more drastic procedure  
indicated.  The hull only exhibits the usual flaking, indicating some  
touchup sanding before repainting.  We've been considering completely  
stripping the (2002) hull, just not this season.
