[C320-list] eliminating odor

We changed the hoses to the expensive white odor-los hoses.  The tank got cleaned inside and out at the time. 

I suspect the vent hose.  From what I heard (not verified), the hose leading to the vent fitting is a larger diameter than the fitting takes. Someone mentioned that their boat had a smaller chunk of hose that was used as an insert to form a stepdown and make the fitting work.

Also I pulled the anti siphon duckbills and washed them good. Maybe they're getting stiff?

We are seriously considering removing the raw water plumbing side hoses and capping them at the head, and reusing the thru-hull for a something else.  It was used only a few times the first year and has never been used to supply flushing water since.  

We have also considered glassing the locker so that there is no air connection between the locker and holding tank spaces.  But that seems a lot like a real project. (One where you have to set your beer down and use 2 hands).  :)

Same problem here as well. What's most frustrating is that I replaced all
the main hoses and the head with a new Raritan just last season. I've been
following some posts on Peggy Hall's site (the infamous 'Head mistress').
She has some suggestions that I have yet to try--a couple of them are:

*To clean the holding tank--empty it, then add a cup of basic Tide liquid
(no bleach/low suds) with a gallon of water through the pump out fitting on
the deck.
* Use a product called 'Pureayre' to clean the inside of the boat.
Apparently it is a product used for pet odors, but the company also has a
'marine' version. It sounds like it works on the same principle as Febreze.
*Back flush the vent every time you wash down the boat

Finally, I'm going to change out the anti siphon hoses in the head as they
are the ones closest to the aft cabin locker--

As others have said, I would love to eliminate this annoyance as well....

This is an issue we are all interested in.

The first time we used the head on our new 320 we got order.  We use fresh
water for flush, clean out the tank including two rises with fresh water
regularly, and drop a pack of "no odor" type of thing in the toilet.  We
still have odor.  I was going to take some fabreese wipes out to the boat on
the next trip and wipe down the hoses.  Since the boat was brand new with
one use of the head when the ordor started, I suspect it's a connection that
needs tightening, not coming through the hoses.  Our old '92 C-28 did not
have odors like this, so we need to investigate it.

BTW, we had great sailing yesterday with winds of 15-20 kts.  High boat
speed was 9.5 kts.  That was a good day!
